About the Healer
My name is Hilary Kapusta. I am a Certified Intuitive Reiki Master and Certified Crystal healer specializing in energy healing for animals. I reside in my home state of Vermont with my fiance and my identical twin daughters who share my love for animals, as well as a chocolate lab named Juniper, a Frenchton named Stevie Nicks, and an elderly rescue cat named Benjamin. When I'm not doing animal Reiki, I work as a hospice aide where I provide support and Reiki to end of life patients and their families. I received my Reiki certifications from an amazing, accredited local Vermont school named Mountain Hollow Medicinals. Ever since I can remember, I have had a deep connection to animals. My best friends were always my animals and I surrounded myself with them every chance I got. I've cared for a wide range of animals throughout my life including dogs, cats, cows, horses, rats and various rodents, birds, lizards, snakes, squirrels, turtles, etc., each leaving their own unique mark on my heart, no matter the size or amount of time spent together. The joy in my soul came from the presence of animals, and they could feel it too. I noticed at a young age that I could feel what they were feeling, later I learned this was what being an animal empath was all about.
While this is a beautiful gift, it is a heavy one as well. We live in a world where animals are not seen as equals to humans. Our culture normalizes exploitation and abuse of animals. Animal cruelty laws are lacking, to say the least. There are no concrete systems in place to prevent animal abusers from owning animals in the future. We are not doing well protecting the animals of this Earth from harm.
I reached my breaking point (in multiple ways) after having witnessed a puppy in my neighborhood being severely abused and neglected for months on end despite my relentless attempts to get the dog help from several town resources. I couldn't believe no one was as outraged as I was that this was happening. No one would help me save this dog's life, I worried for the safety of myself and my children due to retaliation from the abuser, and one does not simply break into a home and steal someone's dog without criminal punishment (as much as I considered it..).
Everyday I had to walk past the window where the dog was being kept confined in a crate 24/7 to walk my own dog, and each day I would say as I walked past him, "I'm working on it buddy. I'm going to get you out of there." The owner finally disposed of the dog and through some kind of divine intervention, the dog survived and went on to be adopted to a loving home. Even though the dog is now safe and loved, that trauma will continue to live in his body just as it would in a human and may manifest as behavioral problems, health issues, pain, aggression, anxiety, depression, lack of trust, etc. I knew I needed to find a way that I could help these animals.
Unfortunately, this is all too common. We've all seen the Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA commercials, it is devastating and we almost have to disassociate from the horror in order to live our day to day lives. I could no longer turn a blind eye to this evil in the world. Our animals need healing too, energy work needs to be accessible for animals. While Reiki Practitioner's are abundant, few specialize in healing for animals and this is why I am here. The lives of Earth's animals should be valued just as humans are. We are all emotional, spiritual beings sharing this planet, we need to take care of each other. Animals enrich our lives in so many ways. If you're here, you probably love them just the same. Reiki is for all creatures, not just humans. My hope is that Reiki will become a more common and widespread complementary practice for animals; the world needs more healers and advocates for the animals.
